One Sonic movie was not enough. And with just one photo, it was confirmed that one of Sonic's best friends would appear in the film.
But Sonic's character is not the only one who will appear in Sonic 2. At least if our hunch is correct, Sonic's punchable foe, Knuckles, will also make an appearance.
Here's what we know about the "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" movie:
Ben Schwartz (Sonic's voice actor) initially announced that the film would be released on April 8, 2022.
The release date was confirmed in a tweet announcing the film's title, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2." However, this could still be delayed. It all depends on when U.S. movie theaters reopen and whether the release dates of other films will be postponed, causing a ripple effect.
Before we get into that, let me give you some details on the post-credit scene from the film "Sonic the Hedgehog." [The former is played by Thomas Michael "Tom" Warshawski, and the latter is the voice of the titular hedgehog.
In other words, Jim Carrey is expected to return as Dr. Robotnik and Tika Sumpter as Tom's wife Maddy. It is not known if Colleen O'Shaughnessy will voice Tails, but she has played the character in other Sonic films, so it is not unlikely.
The film will undoubtedly tell a new story. In one of the end scenes of the Sonic movie, we saw Miles "Tails" Prower enter our world (Green Hills, Montana) from one of Sonic's rings. It turns out that Tails was tracking Sonic on a portable computer. Given that Tails is in the movie logo, Tails is a lock for Sonic 2.
And another new character is introduced when Dr. Robotnik lands on a planet full of mushrooms. The Mushroom Hill Zone first appeared in Sonic & Knuckles, so we can expect to see Tails as well as Echidna's Knuckles in Sonic 2.
In Sonic lore, Dr. Robotnik has brainwashed Knuckles, which may give Dr. Eggman the latest weapon to fight Sonic.
