Best Laptops for CES2021: The most anticipated laptops from HP, Samsung, Asus, etc.

CES 2021 has come to a close, and speaking of laptops, there were a variety of notebooks on display this year that deserve attention. Some were very strange, such as one for streamers that required three webcams, but there were also several that we are very excited to review.

So we gathered together the five best laptops of CES 2021, presented by HP, Asus, Samsung, and Lenovo. They include the thinnest ThinkPad ever, a 5G convertible with all-day battery life, and a laptop built for telecommuting (which is not going to end anytime soon).

HP has already pushed the fabulous Elite Dragonfly to its logical conclusion as an elegant business laptop, especially for the here-and-now and work-from-home lifestyle, and as the perfect laptop for web conferencing. HP Elite Dragonfly Let me introduce you to the Max.

It has a 5MP webcam so you can see clearly during a call, and it also offers crisp video recording (Google and other services may downgrade video to 720p during a call).

Audio also picks up your voice clearly, even if you are not speaking directly into the laptop, thanks to the four microphone array. Background audio suppression eliminates ambient noise, so roommates and outdoor traffic won't mask your words. On top of that, a low blue light filter is always on to reduce eye fatigue.

Too much of a good thing may actually be a bad thing. Last year's Samsung Galaxy Chromebook had a gorgeous 4K AMOLED display and an ultra-slim design, but its appeal was instantly erased by a mediocre 5-hour, 55-minute battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 and its QLED Full HD screen are here, and you'll have to see for yourself if QLED can rival last year's OLED display. In terms of presentation, however, I like the new all-over paint compared to last year's design, which left the edges of the device unpainted silver. Outside of our Disney Plus and Netflix Premium accounts, there isn't much UHD content, so we aren't too hurt by the lack of 4K on this year's model. In addition to this change, the slightly thicker chassis (0.6 inches instead of 0.4 inches) should improve battery life significantly. Samsung rates the Galaxy Chromebook 2 to last up to 14 hours on a single charge.

Besides, the starting price has dropped significantly from $999 to $549. However, there is another downgrade from a Core i5 processor to a Celeron CPU (there is also a Core i3 configuration for $699).

The reliable ThinkPad is a line with a lot of prestige that doesn't get much flash. That's why we're excited to see new designs aimed at a thinner, more portable look.

The convertible Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga breaks Lenovo's own record by being made of actual titanium, and its 0.45-inch-thick chassis feels surprisingly sturdy. Plus, the 2K 13.5-inch touchscreen with Dolby Vision support should be enough to make you go "whoa" like Keanu.

Of course, this is still a ThinkPad, so it has a comfortable keyboard built for typing long projects, an 11th generation Intel Tiger Lake processor, Intel Evo, and vPro.

We can't wait to try it out in our battery test to see how much durability Lenovo has packed into it. With such a sharp screen and such a thin chassis, it's not hard to wonder.

With the huge ScreenPad Plus touchscreen, Asus seems to be trying to win where Apple fell short with the Touch Bar. And with this year's iteration of the Duo laptop, it has found a way to make the ScreenPad even better.

Tilted secondary screens help in two ways. Not only can you have almost one huge continuous display, but the opening created by the ScreenPad Plus being raised increases cooling airflow. Its leading 15-inch OLED screen is also unbeatable, with a screen-to-body ratio of 93%, multiple color accuracy certifications, and TÜV Rheinland certification.

Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED is likely to be an expensive admission (Asus has yet to announce pricing).

The 15-inch ZenBook runs on a 10th generation Intel CPU, but Asus also announced a 14-inch model that runs on an 11th generation processor.

For ultimate portability, the HP Elite Folio aims to be a strong competitor to the Surface Pro. 5G connectivity and a second-generation Snapdragon 8cx processing platform allow users to take it anywhere and get work done.

The company is also looking for a new way to get the job done.

Its easel-style screen, though not removable, can be moved forward to turn the screen into a canvas for writing or drawing, or into display mode for easy movie watching or Zoom calls.

HP's claimed 24.5 hours of battery life is cool, but this is limited to local video playback, and we are curious to see how well the Elite Folio performs in our web surfing-based battery tests.

The only concern is that this is Windows 10 on ARM, and the process is not as smooth as Apple's silicon conversion process; I look forward to seeing how the HP Elite Folio performs in my hands.
