Three men will play Batman. [Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck are joined by Michael Keaton, the Bruce Wayne of the movie world.

The New York Times profiled DC Films president Walter Hamada, pulling back the curtain on plans to make the DC Extended Universe films a serious threat to Marvel's MCU. We also learned that HBO Max will play a major role in all of this.

As fans predicted when they heard that Keaton would be returning to play Bruce Wayne, the folks at DC Films are going full multiverse. Starting with the current DCEU timeline, where "Wonder Woman 1984" is set, and including more recent films like "Aquaman" and Ezra Miller.

Then there is the DC Film multiverse, with films like "The Joker" and "Batman" starring Robert Pattinson.

According to the Times, "Warner Bros. is simultaneously running two different movie sagas involving Batman, played by two different actors."

And there's an Endgame-style way to tie it all together: the 2022 blockbuster film "The Flash" will link Earth 1 and Earth 2, but will feature two Batmen at the same time: Ben Affleck and a returning Michael Keaton. Affleck is expected to drop out of the DC films with "The Flash" and pass the baton to someone else.

Hamada told The Times that "HBO Max" will have a series of spin-offs, including John Cena's "Peacemaker" project, which spun out of James Gunn's "Suicide Squad". Hamada said, "With all the movies I'm seeing right now, I'm thinking, "What are the possibilities for a Max spinoff?" I'm thinking about it," he said. [What about the Snyder cut of Justice League? Hamada said it is "a cul-de-sac of storytelling, a road that leads nowhere." This annotation may mislead Snyder Cut fans. It suggests that there are no plans to follow up on this project that fans have been clamoring for.
