Watch out. Below are spoilers for the Mandalorian Season 2 finale!
Here you go, Star Wars fans! The end credits of "The Mandalorian" Season 2 finale, "The Rescue," revealed the lead character of another Disney Plus Star Wars show that was not announced at the Disney Investors event.
And to avoid spoiling anything about this Mandalorian spinoff, I'll put all the big, spoilerific details after these two links. I will also make the rest of the details dance so as not to spoil the rest of the "Mandalorian" s2 finale.
Now that we've done all we can to prevent spoilers, here's what we're going to do. The title of the new Star Wars Disney Plus series is The Book of Boba Fett. The release date is December 2021.
I assume this must be what Kathleen Kennedy was referring to when she mentioned the "next chapter" in the Mandalorian story at the Disney Investors Day event.
Since no details about The Mandalorian Season 3 have been revealed, it is not strange to think that it could be delayed to Winter 2022. We will await the next holographic message from Disney headquarters on that.
Since the season 2 finale of "The Mandalorian" showed Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) deposing and taking over Viv Fortuna after she took over Jabba the Hutt's palace, the new series will focus on what crime bosses in this generation of the "Star Wars" world It will likely focus on what it's like.
Now that Boba Fett has moved from being a bounty hunter to a bounty payer, it will be interesting to see which hunters he trusts and how much free reign he gives them.
And the fan-favorite bounty hunter is not alone. Fennec Shand (Minna Wen) joins him on his journey to Tatooine and appears to be his proverbial right-hand man, ruling from the throne of Jabba.
