The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is very likely to appear in early December.
Two leaked images, courtesy of Videocardz, show what appears to be Nvidia's own version of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, not that of a graphics card partner. This "Founders Edition" card looks very similar to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition, but with some slight changes.
While it may seem a bit boring, keeping the same design as the rest of the GeForce RTX 3000 series is good news as it means the RTX 3060 Ti will have the same cooling capacity as its more powerful sibling. In other words, it has a dual-fan design with one fan intake and another fan exhaust, as well as an abundant amount of heatsinks.
If the leaked images are legitimate, we can expect to see one HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, similar to the RTX 3070.
While the RTX 3080 Ti's design may not get gaming PC builders' hearts racing, the GPU's performance may. The GPU is expected to use a throttled version of the RTX 3070 GPU, but still offer performance that could surpass the very powerful RTX 2080 Super of the previous generation of GeForce graphics cards.
With a price expected to be around $400, the RTX 3060 Ti could offer graphics performance well worth its cost.
If so, it would be one of the best mainstream graphics cards for gaming at around 1440p with maximum settings enabled and ray tracing. It could also dominate that segment of the graphics card arena, as AMD's latest Radeon RX 6000 series has no $400 cards. The least expensive RDNA 2 Radeon graphics card is the $549 Radeon RX 6800, which promises strong performance at 1440p and 4K resolutions, but may be too expensive for mid-range PC gaming.
With the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti rumored to be announced on December 2, it won't be long until we know what Nvidia does next with its new Ampere-based GeForce series.
