For those considering pre-ordering the PS5 or Xbox Series X, things are coming to a head. With less than two weeks until the release of both consoles, sourcing a console is becoming increasingly difficult for many gamers.
However, you are not entirely out of options: if Best Buy's online ads are to be believed, it appears that it plans to offer stock of the PS5 and Xbox Series X during Black Friday.
Given that both systems sold out immediately on their respective pre-order dates, having either console in stock is a big deal. Most retailers are having trouble restocking the new consoles, and Microsoft has promised that additional Xbox Series X systems may be available on the November 10 Xbox launch date.
Otherwise, the best bet for many who missed the initial wave of pre-orders was to take a chance on a third-party seller or watch inventory alerts as closely as possible. But these are of little use when everyone else who is trying to get a new gaming system is doing so.
Best Buy may be the place to head on Black Friday. While some Best Buy retail stores are open for business, others have instituted a more relaxed policy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is unclear if the systems that may be in stock will also be eligible for online purchases.
The Xbox Series X and Series S are scheduled to hit store shelves on November 10, and the PS5 two days later on November 12.
Keep in mind that even if either console does appear in Best Buy's Black Friday sale, quantities are likely to be extremely limited.
According to the Black Friday ads, several games and peripherals, including the PlayStation Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, PS5 DualSense Controller, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales appear to be on sale. The retailer is advertising an inventory of Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S controllers, a discounted 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership ($22 off), and the ill-fated Cyberpunk 2077, which is listed as still in Best Buy stores .
