With the official launch of PS5 just around the corner, Sony is pulling out all the stops to deliver the best launch experience possible. As part of this effort, an updated version of the PlayStation®App, "reimagined" for use on both PS4™ and PS5™, will be available.
The global rollout of the App will begin with an iOS update for devices running iOS 12.2 or later and Android 6.0 or later.
The revamped app will include new features such as voice chat, native PS Store integration, and an improved user interface to provide a more convenient and high-quality browsing experience. PS5™ users will be able to stay in touch with their new console on the go through the PlayStation®App As they interact with their new consoles through it, the app update focuses on enhancing the social experience and remote control aspects of each console.
The updated user interface provides quick access to the PlayStation home screen, where users can see what games other users are playing and updates to their trophies. This should make it easier to decide what to play based on current game progress and what other players are playing.
If you're in the mood to socialize, you can create party groups directly from the PlayStation App or voice chat with up to 15 friends from your cell phone.
