Watchdog's Legion looks amazing on PS5, but there's a catch

Sony touts the PS5 as a 4K 60fps console, sometimes recording 120fps and rendering games at 8K. However, this does not seem to be the case with Ubisoft's new "Watch Dogs Legion."

In a Reddit AMA, Lathieeshe Thillainathan, Ubisoft's live producer for the game, said that Watch Dogs Legion runs at 4K, with ray tracing enabled, but only at 30fps. He stated.

Running the game at 4K is already a fairly heavy task for current generation consoles and many gaming PCs, but with ray tracing, the load is even higher. Therefore, there is an argument that achieving this performance envelope in Watch Dogs Legion could be quite impressive.

However, many people like to play games at 60 fps. Others like to play games at high frame rates to take advantage of high refresh rate displays.

However, Watch Dogs Legion, which will be released on October 28, does not appear to have a 60 fps option; some members of the Reddit AMA disagreed, stating that 60 fps should be the minimum for next-generation games.

We're inclined to agree with this a bit, but we must remember that "Watch Dogs Legion" is a cross-platform game and not natively developed for the PS5 hardware, which may limit performance a bit.

As developers gain a better understanding of the PS5, which will be available on November 12, games should be able to take full advantage of the 10.28 teraflops of graphics power.

The Xbox Series X has 12 teraflops of power, but it remains to be seen if this graphics performance will make a significant difference in next-generation games.

Reservations for the PS5 are now open, as are reservations for the Xbox Series X and Series S. As a reminder, however, reservations are difficult to secure due to demand, so be prepared to wait patiently.
