Forget about Airpods Pro: These earbuds will fit your ears in 60 seconds

One of the unique features of Ultimate Ears' earbuds is that they are custom-fitted to the ear. However, the company's least expensive model has previously cost $500.

The new Ultimate Ears Fits, available for pre-order today for $249, are not only affordable, but also use a new ear molding technology that takes only 60 seconds, according to the company. The fit is supposed to be much more personalized than the ear tips that come with the AirPods Pro.

UE Fits use the company's so-called Lightform technology, which molds gel-filled tips into a person's ear in about a minute. Other earbuds from Ultimate Ears require the use of a home kit or a visit to an audiologist to make an ear mold, which is then sent to Ultimate Ears to have the earbuds made. This makes the process more immediate.

The UE Fits come in three colors, Cloud (gray), Dawn (lilac), and Eclipse (navy), with a matching charging case; the Fits themselves have a battery life of about 8 hours.

The UE app guides users through the fitting process and then allows them to customize the touch controls on the buds themselves. Users can preset and set the equalizer, activate the voice assistant, skip songs, adjust the volume, etc.

Don't expect the same sound quality as UE's other earbuds; the UE Fits have one 10mm driver, while the company's other products have two or more, but we would be surprised if the sound quality is not superior. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and it supports SBC, AAC, and APT-X audio codecs.

Unlike the AirPods Pro, the UE Fits do not have active noise cancellation, but the custom fit should block out a lot of ambient noise. They are also IPX4 compliant to withstand sweat and have dual microphones that cancel wind noise during calls.

The UE Fits weigh 0.28 ounces and are 1.38 inches long.

We're interested to see how the at-home fitting process works and how the earbuds sound; at $249, the price is the same as the Apple AirPods Pro and $50 more than the Jabra Elite Active 75t. Is the custom fit worth the extra cost?
