The design and specifications of AirPods Studio have just been leaked — this is your first look

It appears that the Apple AirPods Studio has finally made its first leak. Videos and concept images of the headphones are beginning to circulate, revealing a design that is at both ends of the spectrum.

Yes, the AirPods are not actually pods, but larger over-ear headphones. Clips of the supposed headphones were posted by online leakers choco_bit and Jioriku.

See for yourself here:

The band between both cups is a mix of fabric and metal fixings and looks like it could be legit, but the rest of the AirPods Studio looks like a holster of some sort, as a person off-screen in the video slides the unit into what appears to be a holster of some sort. The rest of the AirPods Studio appears to be pre-production, especially since the off-screen person slides the unit into what appears to be some sort of holster.

The part of this AirPods Studio that appears unfinished is a metal cup that looks like some sort of exposed facet or fixture.

While it makes a lot of sense that this is part, but not all, of the AirPods Studio, the sleeve they are packed in gives us some concern. After the headphones are in the sleeve, there is a clasp that is held in place by someone outside the camera, giving the impression that this is all part of the final package.

And if this is the packaging, then this AirPods Studio is more legitimate and final than we would like to believe.

Choco_bit also posted what he claims is a "sport variant" of the headphones. This one looks a little better in the can, but even the leaker commented that he was unimpressed that the headphones look like two Palm Pres attached to a tuning fork.

Frequent Apple leaker Jon Prosser quickly followed up these leaks with some specs and a rendering from Concept Creator that looks very similar to the leaked headphones in question.

According to Prosser, the headphones will feature magnetic ear cups, a high-quality leather or metal design, can be worn in any orientation thanks to ear detection, and use USB-C instead of a standard headphone jack.

According to previous leaks, the AirPods Studio is expected to feature head and neck detection in addition to active noise cancellation and automatically pause playback when removed; Bloomberg previously reported that it will have interchangeable earpads and "a retro" look, which seems to be consistent with these leaked videos and images.

Tom's Guide will continue to track the AirPods Studio until its next leak and (hopefully) official announcement, so stay tuned.Prosser said they expect we will see Apple Silicon MacBook Pro and Apple AirTags, rumors that will be part of the October iPhone 12 event.
