Windows10update is breaking the app - again!

Windows 10 updates resemble horror movies. And the latest Windows 10 Update catastrophe is like Jason from the Friday the 13th movie.

According to Windows Latest, the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (also known as Windows 10 v 2004) now displays a warning of an unauthorized Internet connection in the form of a yellow danger triangle that says "You cannot access the Internet." The system is not working. However, this warning is not actually true, as one can still use the web browser, but the glitch is breaking other apps, including Spotify and the Microsoft Store.

The site claims that the affected apps rely on Windows 10's Internet status to reach the servers and are caught by this fake message. And those who remember life back in March know that this is not the only major bug with Windows 10's Internet connection this year.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue on its own forums and says it is currently "investigating." Hopefully a patch will be applied in a future update.

On Microsoft's Community forum, one user has published a workaround for this problem (Windows Latest claims to have confirmed the fix.) Tom'sGuide has never encountered this problem, so we have not tested these steps ourselves. We have not tested them.

Because these procedures instruct you to use the Registry Editor, this solution is recommended for advanced users only. As always, please back up your system data before performing these procedures:
