Ring's newン99 video Doorbell Unveiled in this big upgrade

Ring's original video doorbell is considered the best video doorbell for those on a tight budget, but its specs, especially the low-resolution 720p camera, are a bit outdated now that most other video doorbells can record visitors at twice that resolution.

Ring has finally updated its original video doorbell with a new 1080p camera that makes it easier to see visitors and also updates some features that prevent false alarms from passing cars. And Ring has kept the new second-generation Ring Video Doorbell at the same price as the original: $99.

The new second-generation Ring Video Doorbell is available on Ring.com and Amazon.com for $99.99 and is shipping now.

For those who run their video doorbells on batteries, Ring has also released a solar charger.

Like the original Ring Video Doorbell and Ring Video Doorbell 2, the second generation Ring Video Doorbell can be hardwired or battery powered.

Externally, the second generation Ring Video Doorbell looks identical to its predecessor: black on top and silver on the bottom. Inside is a 1080p camera with night vision, a significant improvement over the original 720p sensor.

Ring also adds several new features introduced in Ring Video Doorbell 3:

adjustable motion zones, and a "near" zone that detects motion only from 5 to 15 feet in front of the camera.

Privacy zones: This feature allows the user to specify certain areas within the camera's field of view to be excluded from video recording.

Three modes (Home, Away, Disarmed): Allows the user to specify when the Ring Video Doorbell will begin recording when it detects motion. These modes already existed in the Ring application, but can now be used in combination with the Video Doorbell.

One major feature not included in the second generation Ring Video Doorbell is Ring's "pre-roll" feature, which displays four seconds of video before the motion event. Pre-roll is only available in Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus.

The second generation Ring Video Doorbell appears to be an improvement over the original, but wait until you review the device to make a final judgment.
