Samsung's Galaxy Buds X will likely be the next major competitor to Apple's AirPods Pro and the recently launched Google Pixel Buds 2.
Various leaks and trademark applications have already revealed that Samsung is developing new earbuds with active noise cancellation. However, a new trademark granted by the U.S. Patent Office confirms that the Galaxy Buds X will be available. Korean publisher Maeil recently noted that the BudsX will be priced at 170,000 won (about $140).
Apple's excellent AirPods Pro, with active noise cancellation and other smart features, will cost $249. In other words, the Galaxy Buds X can offer one of the most sought-after features in wireless headphones for more than $100 less. The Galaxy Buds X could also beat the Pixel Buds 2, as the Pixel Buds 2 costs $179 and does not offer noise canceling features.
The current Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus is $150, so the Galaxy Buds X could replace its predecessor. Nevertheless, it would be an impressively ambitious move for Samsung to make earbuds with active noise cancellation for under $150.
In our review of Samsung's Galaxy Buds Plus, we noted that Samsung's Buds have subtle touch controls; the Galaxy Buds X are set in a "pea-like" design, which gives Samsung more surface area for improved touch-sensitive controls. could increase.
Also, according to 9to5Google, the Galaxy Buds X is set to be 28 mm long and 13 mm wide, and the charging case will be 26 mm thick. This is smaller than the Galaxy Buds Plus case, so the overall earphone package could be even sleeker than Samsung's current generation of earphones. [But don't be surprised if they are announced alongside Samsung's Galaxy Note 20, which is expected to debut around August.
