iPhone13 Leak Reveals Dimensions - and That's Not Good News

While there is still much we don't know about the upcoming iPhone 13, details about the new device are beginning to emerge. And that is not good news for fans of the thin phone.

MacRumors has seen a blueprint of the iPhone 13. If the details are accurate, it appears that both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be thicker than their predecessors. They will also feature a larger and thicker camera bump than the iPhone 12 line.

Specifically, the iPhone iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro models will likely be 7.57 mm thick. This would represent an increase of 0.17 mm from the iPhone 12. But if it feels a little thicker when you pick up your iPhone 13 this fall, know that it's not your mind playing tricks on you.

It's not just the phone itself that is thicker. The new iPhone also has a larger camera bump to reduce the protrusion. This change is more noticeable in the iPhone 13 Pro model, which MacRumors reports will have a 3.65mm bump compared to the iPhone 12 model's 1.5mm to 1.7mm bump.

The bump for the iPhone 13 camera has also increased, to 2.51mm according to the schematic.

However, at least the iPhone 13 Pro models have more than the thickness of the array. These models are rumored to feature an upgraded lens, specifically an ultra-wide camera. Allegedly, the aperture of this camera will be larger, and Apple has moved to a six-segment lens, all in an effort to capture more light.

We actually saw an iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy unit in a YouTube video last week.

Beyond what we learned from these two rumors, additional iPhone 13 rumors suggest that Touch ID is coming back, either as an in-display sensor or integrated into the power button like on the iPad Air 4. The iPhone 13 Pro model is also said to feature a display with dynamically adjustable refresh rate.

Overall, we are not happy that the iPhone 13 could be thicker, but we hope the upgrade will be worth the trade-off.
