Despite the ongoing shortage of chips and supply, making it almost impossible to find graphics cards, next-generation consoles, and other electronics, Nvidia is still working on a Titan-class edition of the GeForce RTX 3090 (nominally the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti) is under development.
Announced at CES 2022, this new flagship GPU will offer more power and performance than the already powerful RTX 3090; Nvidia did not reveal much about this new graphics card, but the information we did get was exciting.
This is all we know about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.
We don't know what the RTX 3090 Ti will cost at launch. However, it is safe to say that it will not be cheap.
At MSRP, the RTX 3090 costs $1,499. Therefore, it is doubtful that the RTX 3090 Ti will break $2,000; given the shortage issues plaguing the GPU industry, Nvidia may even charge more than that. In short, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is a premium card and will command a premium price.
Nvidia has not revealed a release date for the RTX 3090 Ti. The company says it will announce more details later this month. However, we can speculate on a potential release date.
Nvidia has confirmed that the new entry-level RTX 3050 will be available on January 27. Furthermore, there are rumors that the next GPUs, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series, will be released in the third or fourth quarter of 2022. Given that, the RTX 3090 Ti is likely to appear sometime between each of these launches; the RTX 3090 Ti could be released in late spring or early summer of 2022.
Spec details are scarce, but Nvidia has provided at least some interesting information: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is a GA102 GPU manufactured on an 8nm process. 40 teraflops of share, 78 teraflops of ray tracing, 320 teraflops tensor, and 24GB of GDDR6X memory running at 21Gbps. Base and boost speeds are 1560 MHz/1860 MHz. Rumor has it that the RTX 3090 Ti will have a TDP of up to 450W, 100W higher than the RTX 3090.
There is no benchmark data on how the GPU performs in daily use or during gaming, but based on these specs, the 3090 Ti should show an overall performance gain of 10% over the RTX 3090. RTX 3090 itself was 10% faster than RTX 3090 Ti was 10% faster than the 3080.
While the RTX 3090 Ti was designed primarily for gaming, it definitely has the power needed for audio editing and video rendering; 4K should be a cinch for the RTX 3090 Ti and high frame rates should be possible. This GPU will be the "monster" Nvidia claims it will be in terms of performance.
Graphics cards are naturally a sore spot within the PC gaming community due to the ongoing global pandemic. Under normal circumstances, news of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti would be cause for celebration. Even the little information we have obtained marks it as a remarkable jump up from the RTX 3080. However, given that many people have yet to get their hands on Nvidia's current RTX 30 series cards, it is understandable that they would temper their excitement for the RTX 3090 Ti. And that's not even taking into account how expensive this GPU is likely to be.
More news on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is expected in the coming weeks, and we will update this page as information becomes available. Please stay tuned for further news.
