Update: Today's restocking of the Target PS5 was extremely limited, as expected, and the retailer is now once again sold out of the console; see our PS5 Restocking Hub for updates on the PS5 restocking and which retailers to check next for inventory.
Target is currently hosting what may be the last PS5 restocking event before the holidays. Almost two weeks ago, the retailer had its largest restock of 2021, and it appears that there are still enough units left to do another smaller restock today.
This PS5 restocking news comes from YouTuber and full-time PS5 inventory tracker Jake Randall, a reliable source at Target. He claimed that some Target stores have enough units left from the last drop to offer customers one last chance to buy a PS5 before the holiday season arrives. That proved to be the case.
Randall noted that additional allocations of inventory have not been shipped to individual stores, so even if restocking takes place in the next few days, the available inventory will be in very limited quantities. Retailers may want to move the remaining inventory before Christmas, but may opt to continue to increase inventory quantities in order to make big price cuts later in the year.
If this restocking takes place, it will most likely be on Thursday or Friday, possibly even today (November 15). The exact timing of this restock is unknown, but Target has almost always opened the gates for orders between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. EST; there is no reason to think this will change, as this will likely be the last restock of 2021.
There is definitely reason to be optimistic about this restocking news; Jake Randall had previously accurately predicted several Target restocks. However, until we hear directly from Target itself, this information should not be considered a guarantee.
While we wait to see if this last-chance Target drop materializes, please bookmark our PS5 Restocking Hub. This comprehensive guide contains the latest restocking information we've received, as well as any rumors or potential leaks we've come across. While this guide won't guarantee you a PS5, it will make the task of acquiring Sony's in-demand gaming console a little easier.
First, make sure you have an account set up with your payment and address details saved. This is an essential step if you want to secure your PS5 when it is restocked. Stocking the basket is only half the battle. You don't want the console to be sold out while you are entering the details. Make sure everything is saved so you can check out in seconds.
Target is known for releasing inventory in waves, usually releasing the regular PS5 first, followed by a restock of PS5 digital versions. Therefore, even if the PS5 is already sold out at the retailer, it is worth sparing the time to go after the second wave.
Randall also recommends using alternative payment methods such as PayPal, Apple Pay, or RedCard if possible. The advantage of these is that using another payment portal avoids Target's own servers, which have collapsed under the burden of trying to secure the order confirmation emails that thousands of people have coveted in the past.
Target also has an app that can be used to secure PS5. A good trick is to try to check out the restock on both your desktop and mobile device. Once you are able to add the PS5 to your cart on one, we recommend switching to the other and completing the checkout process. As long as you are logged in, the contents of your cart will be recorded.
Finally, during checkout, if your local store is sold out, you can edit your location to select a store that has PS5 in stock. Occasionally, this will prevent the checkout process from proceeding, but if you experience this issue, clear your browser cookies and try again.
