If you want a new laptop, look no further than the machines in Dell's XPS lineup. The Black Friday sale is full of discounts on Dell's ultraportables, gaming laptops, and hybrid machines.
Take the latest Dell XPS 13, for example, which is marked down from $1,219 to $999 in the U.S. and from £1,149 to £999 in the U.K. One of our top picks on Tom's Guide's Best Laptops list, the XPS 13 is available for $220 and £150 savings. But as the actual date of Black Friday approaches, there are likely to be even more discounts on the Dell XPS series, from the latest models to the earlier ones.
And if you're happy with the 2020 XPS 13 with a 13.3-inch display instead of 13.4 inches, you can get Dell's XPS 13 (9305) for $649.
With a beautiful design, especially the bezel-less Infinity Edge display, the latest Intel processors, and a really good keyboard, the XPS 13 and XPS 15 are excellent laptops. 15-inch machines are especially eye-catching thanks to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, which makes it particularly eye-catching. This GPU provides ample performance for video editing and gaming on the go. [Furthermore, not only has the Dell XPS been updated to the latest Intel Tiger Lake processors, but it seems unlikely that a Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 will rival Dell's machine. And the MacBook Air 2022 is likely to be a while away yet. The new MacBook Pro 2021 laptop is very impressive, but is unlikely to see big discounts. And these expensive Apple laptops are better suited for video editors and coders, not writers and everyday computing tasks.
If you don't need big power and simply want a beautiful ultra-portable suitable for standard and everyday tasks such as web browsing, word processing, and e-mail, then for under $1,000 a Dell with an Intel Core i5 processor XPS, and you'll be able to use it for several years.
Those seeking more power and a bit more graphical muscle (I am one of them) should look for the discounted Dell XPS 15 model. The laptop is still fairly compact, so despite the increased power, it's still portable; there are no deals on the XPS 15 yet, but you're sure to find some bargains on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
In short, if you're looking for a Dell laptop, the best time to get one is between now and Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Don't miss out on some great deals that require you to enter a discount code.
If you need a thin and light laptop, but not enough to buy a Dell machine, I would recommend the Surface Laptop 4 or Laptop 3. Microsoft, like Amazon and other retailers, often sells these laptops at bargain prices during Black Friday, so these are worth checking out.
If you plan to buy a laptop this fall, good luck on your hunt. Also, if you find a particularly promising deal or have further questions about what to buy, let us know.
