The Yellowstone Season 4 premiere is here. What will be the fate of John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, and his children?
Watch "Yellowstone" Seasons 1-3 to catch up on the wild western action. The drama stars John Dutton, the sixth patriarch of the Dutton family, who controls the Yellowstone-Dutton Ranch, the largest continuous ranch in the United States. It is still frontier country, and the ranch is under constant attack from land developers, Indian reservations, and a nearby national park.
And if you're not watching, you can learn more by listening to the Yellowstone podcast.
John's family includes son Casey Dutton, a former Navy SEAL whose wife Monica is Native American. Daughter Beth Dutton is a financier with a substance abuse problem. Son Jamie Dutton is a lawyer and aspiring politician. And Rip Wheeler is a ranch manager who is romantically involved with Beth.
In the explosive Season 3 finale, many lives of the Dutton family were in jeopardy. Even Kosner. (Just kidding, he's perfectly safe.)
Here's what we know so far about Yellowstone Season 4.
Paramount Network has set the release date for Yellowstone Season 4 for Sunday, November 7.
Fans have been waiting months for a confirmed premiere date. Since all three previous seasons premiered in June, many had hoped that Season 4 would be released around Father's Day. Also, filming ended in November (with reshoots this spring). Well, as they say, "absence makes the heart grow fonder." The trailer for Season 4 of [Yellowstone] is full of action and emotional confrontations. Rip Wheeler orders a bloodied John Dutton, caught in a hail of bullets, "Don't die on me."
Meanwhile, the diabolical Garrett again spins his words to his own son, Jamie Dutton. He doesn't believe in the concept of "fair" or "moral." What about right and wrong?" Jamie asks. Garrett then replies, "There is no such thing."
Previously, Paramount Network released the first "Yellowstone" Season 4 teaser trailer in early July, giving the first glimpse of footage from the upcoming season. Much of the footage is re-edited scenes from previous episodes, but it is the first time we see Rip and John in the aftermath of the third season finale.
And as well as checking out this promo previewing Season 4, the show advises fans to reinforce their memories by streaming Seasons 1-3 ahead of the premiere: [The cast of Yellowstone runs the Yellowstone/Dutton Ranch. led by Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the sixth patriarch of the Dutton family.
He is joined by a cast that includes:
New faces were added to the ranch in Season 3, but it is unknown if they will return for Season 4. Josh Holloway as Roark Morris, Karen Pittman as Willa Hayes, and Will Patton as Garrett Randall. [31] [32] Deadline also reports that newcomers to the fourth season, including Jacki Weaver ("Animal Kingdom") as Caroline Warner, "the CEO of Market Equities who is trying to break John Dutton's hold on his vast Montana ranch," reportedly has a cast member.
Piper Perabo ("The Covert Affair"), Katherine Kelly ("Nashville"), and Finn Little ("People You Want Dead") will also appear.
Season 4 of Yellowstone will resolve a major cliffhanger after an explosive season finale. A bomb explodes in Beth's office, and Casey and John are the targets of separate shootings. Will the three Duttons survive?
Teasers have already confirmed that John will survive the events of the finale. It must have something to do with the "powerful" determination that Kevin Costner spoke of in an interview with a local FOX station.
As for Beth, both Riley and Hauser have talked about her future with Rip, which implies that she will survive the bombing. Assuming Beth survives, perhaps she and Rip will eventually be officially married.
Nevertheless, there is also speculation online that Beth will die, with one Reddit thread reported in Country Living pointing out that the fact that John is alive makes it more likely that Beth will not die. Of course, there is no way to know if any of this is true, but it is always fun to see what people think.
Regardless, according to cast member White, fans are looking forward to season 4 starting at a "breakneck pace." Dutton and his allies will likely respond to the bombings and shootings with some sort of retaliation. As Hauser told Deadline, episode one of season four may be titled "Rip's Fury."
"After that, everyone is in danger in Montana," he said. Given the teaser trailer's focus on revenge, the Dutton family is likely to get some closure.
Another interesting storyline to be explored in Season 4 is the Dutton family's tense relationship with the region's indigenous people. Monica is a potential leader of the local tribe and may play a key role.
Yellowstone fans can get more Dutton Ranch action in Paramount Plus' prequel series, titled Y:1883, a spin-off set 125 years in the past, before the family became wealthy or influential.
According to Paramount Plus, Y:1883 "follows the Dutton family's journey westward across the Great Plains to the last bastion of untamed America. It is both a gritty tale of the frontier West and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty and seeking a better future in Montana, the promised land of America.
Y:1883 will premiere in 2021. Check out the teaser trailer:
