Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra New rumors are bad news for Samsung's giant tablet

This time last year, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S7 was fully revealed and available for purchase. However, the follow-up Galaxy Tab S8 has taken a little longer, and leaker Ice Universe previously predicted that it would debut next year along with the Galaxy S22.

Previous Samsung Galaxy Tabs have come in regular and plus sizes, but this year is said to bring an even larger one into the mix. However, according to a new report from South Korea, the giant Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra could be very hard to come by in many ways.

Korean blog Naver packs a lot of details into a short article. Basically, it appears that the Tab S8 Ultra will be produced in very small quantities and will only be available in small quantities in certain regions. It also suggests that restocking is not guaranteed.

The reason for this has not been given, so it could be a return to our old friend the global chip shortage, or it could be that the huge 14.6" 120Hz OLED display is difficult to produce in large quantities.

Or it could be that Samsung's margins are so thin that it is not worth devoting huge amounts of production space to new Android tablets. In other words, it may not necessarily be something that every household wants, but merely a desirable showpiece product to demonstrate the company's capabilities.

As the name "Ultra" suggests, this version of the Galaxy Tab S8 is set to offer a lot of performance and desirable features. Along with a high-spec screen, early reports suggest that it will come bundled with 12GB of high-capacity RAM, 45W charging support, and an S Pen for doodling on a giant canvas.

The purported 14.6-inch display also means there is plenty of room for a battery, a considerable step up from the 8,000mAh and 10,090mAh cells in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 Plus, respectively, and a 12 There are reports that it will have a 12, 000mAh battery.

Korean pricing rumors point to an expensive device, starting at $1,247 for the WiFi only version. This would surpass the $1,099 12.9-inch iPad Pro and sounds like a bold move - but for those who want an extra 1.7 inches of screen, there are precious few alternatives.

There is a Samsung Unpacked event on October 20, where the Tab S8 could make an appearance. But with a launch that doesn't tilt until next year, we wouldn't bet on it.
