The next big rumored change to the iPad Pro may literally change the way Apple views its premium tablets.

According to a post by leaker Dylan on Twitter, Apple intends to make the future iPad Pro primarily landscape-oriented. This includes moving the front camera and the "horizontally positioned Apple logo on the back."

While the popularity of the iPad family is undisputed, tablets designed primarily for portrait orientation are becoming a minority. A look at rival tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 will show that the front-facing camera is on the long edge of the display band and the interface is designed to hold the tablet in landscape orientation.

Apple making this change would allow the iPad Pro to catch up with other tablets in its category, but it also makes sense in Apple's own marketing. iPad Pro has been portrayed as a laptop, especially since Apple introduced the Magic Keyboard It has been portrayed as a replacement. Many everyday tasks are usually performed on a horizontal display, and it makes sense for Apple to design the most professionally-focused iPad with this in mind.

We just saw Apple unveil a new iPad and a significantly revamped iPad mini, but there are still no rumors of an upcoming iPad Pro. Going by past years, the next generation is expected to arrive in spring 2022,

and as Dylan noted in his post, this change may not make it into the next model. However, according to another recent rumor, two things may be expected for the 2022 iPad Pro. A new design and a mini LED display on the smaller 11-inch model, similar to the one on the current 12.9-inch model. Presumably, this new design will reflect the shift to a horizontal orientation.
