While the September 14 Apple event is expected to focus on the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch 7 announcements, there are still many other rumors about Apple products. Like the long-awaited M1X MacBook Pro, which was rumored to be coming this summer but never materialized.
According to the latest "Power On" newsletter by Bloomberg's Mark Garman, we may finally see these new MacBook Pros in the "coming weeks."
According to Garman, there should be more Apple announcements in the fall: products like the AirPods 3, a redesigned iPad Mini 6, an all-new entry-level iPad, and the M1X MacBook Pro.
According to the newsletter, these MacBooks will feature a "high-end M1 chip," MagSafe magnetic charging, and a mini LED screen, but no sign of a Touch Bar. We may have heard about these features before, but it is exciting nonetheless.
Unfortunately, we won't hear about the new MacBook Pro at the iPhone 13 launch event. We've already heard rumors that the September 14 event may be the first of several this fall, as Apple did the exact same thing last November when it announced the first Ramnge Mac with the Apple M1 chip.
In addition to the M1X chip, the return of MagSafe, and the mini LED display, rumors suggest that the MacBook Pro will have a 1080p webcam, an HDMI port, and an SD card slot MacBook Pro 2021 14-inch and refreshed 16-inch MacBook Pro is also expected to comprise the new MacBook Pro series.
As for the M1X chip, it is expected to be very powerful. Rumor has it that this chip will be an enhanced version of the M1 chip, with more Thunderbolt channels, more CPU and GPU cores, higher power consumption, and support for multiple external monitors.
A recent Bloomberg report claims that the chip will have 10 cores, more than the usual 8 cores found in current M1 chips, and may support up to 64 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GPU cores.
Comparatively, the anticipated Apple M2 chip is rumored to have only eight CPU cores, suggesting that Apple has two very different audiences in mind for both chips: the M1X is for power users who require very intensive work on the MacBook Pro, and the M2X is for those who need to work on the MacBook Pro for a long time. M2 is more likely to be for the next-generation MacBook Air, which is expected to have less demanding computing requirements.
Garman tweeted that he believes the MacBook Pro will be announced at the second Apple event, along with whatever iPad updates Apple has in store for us. The only question is when that event will be and when the new MacBook Pro will finally be released. We expect that question could be answered in October.
