The live stream of Novak Djokovic vs Matteo Bellettini is about to begin. But will the Italian pro be able to avenge his Wimbledon loss and knock out Djokovic in this US Open live stream?
Or will Djokovic win another one and be two wins away from a Grand Slam? Djokovic has won all three of their previous meetings, at Roland Garros (2021) and the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals, before winning Wimbledon this summer.
However, the road to the last U.S. Open was not a smooth one. Djokovic dropped service twice in the first set of his round of 16 match against Jenson Brooksby, dropping that set as well. But after that set, he regained his bearings and confidence, as his 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 box score showed.
This was Djokovic's 25th consecutive match win, and it doesn't look like that streak will be broken anytime soon. Berrettini's play at the US Open was not as smooth as Djokovic's, but that may be due to a recently suffered thigh injury. Djokovic's shoulder injury was much earlier and he had time to recover.
Furthermore, Belletti has never been a pushover for Djokovic, and his 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 record against him in 2021 shows that the Serbian ace does not always have everything his own way.
One thing is certain: Djokovic's march to the Golden Slam will take another toll. It seems unlikely that Djokovic will lose, but it is unlikely that Bellettini will be eliminated early.
