Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings are not released on Disney Plus Premier Access – here's why

September 3 is the release date of the second Marvel film of the year, "The Legend of Shang Ruong and the Ten Rings". The film stars Sim Liu and will be the MCU's first film to feature an Asian hero in the lead role.

However, you may be wondering if "Shang-Chi" will also be available on Disney Plus, since "Black Widow" began streaming on Disney Plus Premier Access the same day it was released.

The short answer is that it will not be released on Disney Plus Premiere Access on September 3. Despite the fact that "Black Widow" was released in Premiere Access on the same day that "Shang-Chi" was released in theaters, Disney has decided to show "Shang-Chi" exclusively in theaters first.

So if you want to go see the film and avoid potential spoilers, you will need to purchase a theater ticket.

That's not necessarily a bad thing and may be cheaper than spending $30 on a movie rental. However, if you are concerned about COVID-19 or the Delta variants, you may not want to see this movie.

As for streaming, it's not all bad news. Typically, films appear on digital channels at least 90 days after their theatrical release. Third-party streaming services take even longer, sometimes five to eight months to arrive. According to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, this is not the case with "Shang - CHI."

According to Chapek, "Shang-Chi" will be an "interesting experiment" because it may appear on Disney Plus just 45 days after its theatrical release; whether it will also be available on digital storefronts such as Amazon Prime Video and iTunes is It is entirely unclear.

Similarly, it is also unclear whether "Shang - CHI" will be available for free on Disney Plus or whether there will be a period of time when users will pay a fee through the Premier Access service.

In any case, this situation means that "Shang-Chi" will be available on Disney Plus as early as October 18. In other words, we only have to wait six weeks, instead of three full months, before Disney will allow us to watch the movie at home.

So if you don't want to risk sharing a movie theater with someone who is not vaccinated or wearing a mask, you don't have to.
