It appears that the MacBook Pro 2021 could be unveiled this fall, as a new report from DigiTimes indicates that mass production of the new laptop is underway.
DigiTimes, citing supply chain sources, reports that Apple may ship up to 800,000 new MacBook Pro models in November. If this information is correct, the MacBook Pro will be available between September and November.
The report does not reveal many details about the upcoming MacBook Pro. However, there are plenty of rumors and tidbits that give us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the new model.
In particular, the 14-inch model will have a larger display in a 13-inch chassis, effectively replacing the current MacBook Pro 13. And its display is said to feature a mini LED panel that improves brightness contrast and color, similar to the one on the 12-inch iPad Pro 2021. The upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro is also expected to use mini-LEDs.It is also expected to have more ports, with the SD card reader and HDMI port returning. And the MacBook Pro 2021 may feature a new form of MagSafe charging. Apple is also said to be making things interesting with regard to power.
The new MacBook Pro is expected to use the M1X chip. This slice of silicon is said to be a more powerful version of the Apple M1 chip found in the current MacBook Pro M1, with up to 10 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores.
More power, a better display, more ports, and a redesigned design make Apple's professional laptop even more appealing and may be a new contender for our best laptops list.
We expect the iPhone 13 could debut in September alongside the Apple Watch 7 and iPad mini 6, so we expect the next-generation MacBook Pro could also get its own launch event in October. We will report further news as it becomes available in Tom's Guide.
