The 2021 Tokyo Olympics may be the dawn of a new day for Team USA's volleyball dreams. And although they are losing one of their biggest stars, they might just take the gold medal after all.
Thompson, injured in a game against the Russian Olympic Committee (which the team lost), is the team's biggest celebrity. And she did not return for the match against the Dominican Republic, but Team USA won anyway.
But then Jordyn Poulter hurt her ankle against Italy (which the team won) and missed the Dominican Republic match as well. And now, with a live stream of Team USA vs. Brazil women's volleyball, they are in the hunt for the gold medal.
In 2016, the highly touted USA lost to Serbia in the semifinals and could only manage a bronze medal. And until this injury, Robinson's team was undefeated in group play and stronger than ever. [29-27, 25-22, 25-21 in straight sets, as they beat the previous champion, China. Yet, this also happened to China in Rio 2016, when they came back to win the gold medal.
The Team USA women's volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the world, has high expectations from the world and from themselves.
Among the services you'll want for these games, Peacock helps you watch highlights at night, and Sling TV and Fubo TV help you catch games on tape delay.
The Olympics are a global event and can be seen in almost every country on earth. However, if you are not in your home country and your usual service does not allow you to watch the Tokyo Olympics volleyball games, or if you prefer to watch them in your native language, you are not out of luck.
A virtual private network, or VPN, allows you to access the same streaming services you're already paying for by pretending you're surfing the web from your hometown (or anywhere else not hit by a power outage.) VPNs are completely legal, inexpensive, and easy to use.
Not sure which VPN is right for you? After testing a variety of services, the best VPN overall is ExpressVPN. It offers great speed and excellent customer service. However, there are other VPN options out there.
The VPN is incredibly easy to use.
1. Install the VPN of your choice. As we have mentioned, ExpressVPN is our favorite.
2. select the location you want to connect to with the VPN app. For example, if you are in the U.S. and want to see services in the U.K., select U.K. from the list.
3. Sit back and enjoy the action. Go to your favorite website or streaming service and tune in.
If you want to watch the Tokyo Olympics volleyball games live, you'll need to stay up late at night (the live schedule is below) and NBCOlympics.com requires a cable TV login. The games may also be broadcast on NBCSN and USA at reasonable times (although they are often rebroadcast on tape delay).
Of course, Peacock's nightly broadcasts are also likely to include updates.
USA and NBCSN are part of the $35/month Sling TV Blue package, and Olympic watchers will want the Blue package, which also has NBC. Olympic channels are also available as an add-on for $11/month.
Sling is one of the best streaming services, along with the other services we recommend for Olympic viewing: Fubo TV has over 100 channels (more than Sling), including all of the above networks.
To watch all the competitions live, we recommend subscribing to Discovery Plus, which provides coverage of all Tokyo 2020 events, and all Olympic volleyball events will be broadcast on this service.
Discovery is currently offering a 3-day free trial of this service, after which a full subscription is available for £6.99 per month or £29.99 per year. Additionally, the service can be streamed on a number of devices, including Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV, and apps for iOS and Android.
The BBC iPlayer used to be the go-to source for all Olympic coverage for people in the UK, but things have changed.
The BBC will not have a monopoly on Olympic coverage in the UK because the IOC has sold its major European broadcast rights to the Discovery Network. As a result, the BBC's coverage, while still good, is limited to no more than two live broadcasts at a time.
Americans abroad can use any service they like by logging in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.
Details are not necessarily strong here, as Sportsnet, CBC, and TSN are sharing Olympic coverage, so some, but not all, have details you may need.
That said, TLN does broadcast most of the games.
Again, Americans can use services such as Peacock, Sling, and Fubo by logging in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.
Downunder, Aussies can watch Olympic volleyball games for free on the 7Plus network streaming service. Simply add 14 hours to the Eastern Standard Time times below to find the start time of the games in Western Australia Eastern Standard Time.
I am currently out of the country. Please use ExpressVPN to access paid services.
