Windows 11 will feature "Focus Sessions," a new tool designed to help users tackle tasks while improving productivity by selecting Spotify playlists.

Panos Panay, Microsoft's chief product officer, teased the new feature in the Insider build of Windows 11 on Twitter, saying: "Another first look from the team... #FocusSessions for #Windows11 coming soon. The integration with @Spotify is especially groundbreaking for me."

FocusSessions is all about productivity, and if the 16-second teaser video is any indication of the finished product, users will focus on one specific task and get in the zone It is designed to help users create productivity in a short period of time while listening to music that helps them focus on one specific task and get in the zone.

In the video embedded in the above tweet, the user selects a task from a to-do list, chooses a Spotify playlist, and starts a 30-minute timer. This timer can be lengthened or shortened, and there is space for a break. Judging from the interface, Focus Sessions is Windows 11's redesigned "Clock" app, as the left navigation bar displays familiar titles such as "Timer," "Alarm," "Stopwatch," and "World Clock" It appears to be part of Windows 11's redesigned "Clock" app.

Given the ongoing pandemic and the decision by many companies to let employees work remotely, focus and productivity is an area where any little thing helps, and software developers are taking notice.

Indeed, this is not the first Microsoft product to introduce a focus mode: Teams has a similar feature that allows users to work without distractions by applying music or timers. Apple's upcoming macOS 12 Monterey update also has a Focus mode, where notifications are filtered and followed across devices using iCloud accounts.

Panay did not reveal when Focus Sessions will be introduced, but Brandon LeBlanc, another Microsoft employee in the know, confirmed that the feature will be available "soon to Windows Insiders."

If it will be available "soon" to Insiders, it is likely that the official release of Windows 11 will be available to Windows 10 users by the end of the year.

The word "eligible" is important, as some users will be locked out of the upgrade due to the configuration of their computers; Microsoft has removed the official Health Check app, but third-party options are available to ensure that your PC is Windows 11 available to check if it is ready.
