As rumors grow over the possible launch of the iPad mini 6, there are reports that Apple is surveying Chinese customers ahead of the rumored launch.
According to IT Home, the Cupertino survey focuses on iPad mini display size, iPad OS, and iPad accessories. Interestingly, Apple customers were asked about the iPad mini 4, a model that was released in 2015 and subsequently discontinued. However, its successor, the iPad mini 5, featured the same screen size as the previous generation. The survey asked whether users felt the display size was optimal, too large, or too small.
Sources also reported that customers were asked about their devices, specifically whether they own tablets from competitors such as Samsung, Windows PC, Amazon, and Huawei. Additionally, the survey includes questions about other smartphone brands and Apple watches.
Other parts of the survey relate to iPad mini accessories such as keyboards, headphones, protective cases, included charging adapters and cables, and also asks if customers use them.
This may be a simple customer experience survey, but one cannot help but recall that Cupertino rolled out a similar survey prior to the announcement of the iPhone 12 model last year. And once the announcement was complete, the latest iPhone product boxes were stripped of the previously included power adapter and EarPods. Such adjustments were part of Apple's new sustainable packaging strategy to reduce electronic waste.
Rumors suggest that the iPad mini 6 will feature the same size mini LED display as its 7.9-inch predecessor, while other sources say that the next iPad mini model will feature an 8.4-inch display. The mini LED panel (currently found on the iPad Pro 2021 model) may offer improved brightness and contrast levels over traditional LCD displays.
Another Apple leaker, Jon Prosser, speculated that the new iPad mini 6 is said to feature the A14 Bionic chip currently found in the latest iPhone 12 model. Also, the Lightning port may be replaced with USB-C, and the iPad mini 6 may offer optional 5G connectivity.
And as for design, a series of iPad mini 6 renderings by Jon Prosser and RendersbyIan suggest a design similar to the iPad Air 2020.
