There is a big technical problem with Halo Infinite multiplayer beta.

Halo Infinite's Multiplayer Beta Has Officially Begun The technical preview of Halo Infinite is off to what can best be described as a rocky start, with login difficulties and the game crashing when it finally gets started. The bad news is that this could continue until the preview ends on August 2. The good news, however, is that these problems are exactly what the Tech Preview should be evaluated for.

The sources are the 343 Industries website and a Twitter thread by Brian Jarrad, Halo's community director. These two sources explain the types of problems you may encounter while playing the "Halo Infinite" Tech Preview and why they are all natural.

"As a friendly reminder, this is a tech test of unprecedented scale. Production is the driving force, and it's also a great scale test for our system as we've seen the load on Halo Waypoint increase dramatically." The team has already been able to resolve additional deployments, but it will likely be bumpy when everyone hits the site for messages."

In other words: there are a lot of people trying to play the Halo Infinite preview, and stress testing is an important part of the process. Your unpleasant crashes are useful data for the 343 team and may prevent even more unpleasant crashes when the game is in full release and your multiplayer ranking counts for something.

343 cites several issues that players have encountered, including "a nasty bug related to matchmaking that sometimes prevents players from joining a session, causing them to time out and return to the main menu."

If you are having trouble successfully joining a game of Halo Infinite rest assured that you are not alone.

"We are aware of and tracking several different crash scenarios, but the overall average failure rate is well below our goal."

"We are particularly interested in obtaining MOR crash logs from a wider range of platforms so that stability work can continue internally. [Other bugs include incompatibility with certain AMD drivers, frame-rate disruption, missing player scores, missing weapons, and melee attacks not working.

These are all glaring problems in the full release, but it is important to remember that you should expect to see them in the beta version of the game; as Jarrad points out,

"The unpredictability of the timing of this release is not being addressed, and those who are outraged I fear that those of you who are angry at the unpredictability of the timing of this release are already setting the wrong expectations going into the technical preview," he writes. There will be twists and turns."

If you want the perfect "Halo" multiplayer experience, you'll have to hold out for "Halo 5" or "The Master Chief Collection" for now. However, if you want to help 343 Industries gather data to improve their next title, you may want to attend this weekend's "Halo Infinite" preview.
