The new Razer Blade 17 has been unveiled, offering enhanced graphics and processing power with the latest Nvidia GPUs and new Intel 11th generation Core H-series processors.

Razer may have dropped the "Pro" moniker that the previous Blade 17 had, but the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, GeForce RTX 3070, GeForce RTX 3060, and Core i7 11800H or Core i9 11900H available, it makes no difference that it is a pro.

The GPU can utilize up to 130 watts of power (more than the GPU in the Blade 15 Advanced) and the Intel Core H-series CPUs can boost up to 4.6 GHz and 4.9 GHz respectively, so the new Blade 17 will not lack in gaming performance

However, the new Blade 17 will not lack in gaming performance.

However, Razer has managed to keep its flagship laptop essentially the same as the older Blade Pro 17. The new laptop measures 15.55 x 10.24 x 0.78 inches and weighs 6.06 pounds. The improved vapor chamber appears to keep the laptop's powerful interior cool despite the increased wattage.

As the name suggests, the Blade 17 has a 17.3-inch display, available in Full HD and QHD resolutions and refresh rates of 165 Hz, 240 Hz, and 360 Hz. There is also a 4K touchscreen option with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Other key specs include up to 32 GB of RAM, which will be attractive to creative professionals. Storage starts at 512GB, but a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD is the most common option in a variety of configurations, with an M.2 slot for further storage upgrades.

The overall design of the Racer Blade 17 is very similar to the previous model. However, the CNC aluminum enclosure has an anti-fingerprint coating and the trackpad has improved palm rejection. The quad-speaker setup uses THX Spatial Audio for virtual 7.1 surround sound.

The port selection remains unchanged with three USB 3.2 connections, one USB-C 3.2 for power supply, and a pair of USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4.

With this refresh, the Blade 17 is likely to compete with the likes of the Alienware m17 R4 for a spot on our best gaming laptops list. Note, however, that prices start at $2,299 in the US and £2,299 in the UK, with the GeForce RTX 3080-equipped models topping out at $3,599 and £3,399, respectively. You can pre-order the Blade 17 from Razer in the U.S. right now.

The Blade 15 base model, aka the entry-level Blade 15, has also been refreshed.

The new base model features two PCIe 4.0 SSD slots, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, and an Intel Core i7-11800H processor.

Simply, there are three models to choose from, with the only variants being a choice of GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 and an FHD 144hz display or QHD screen with 165Hz refresh rate. The new Blade 15 Base is available for pre-order today, with prices starting at $1,699 and £1,699.

The Blade 15 Advanced is already powered by the latest Nvidia GPU and is expected to be refreshed at a later date, but since it is powered by a 10th generation Intel processor, Razer may be considering switching to an AMD Ryzen CPU like the Razer Blade 14 may be considering making the switch.
