Update: GameStop has sold out of PS5 restocks. Please see the PS5 Restock Hub for the latest restock information. GameStop has not restocked the PS5 in over two weeks, but that has changed as the retailer now has the console in stock.
This information was initially brought to us by Matt Swider of TechRadar. He received an email from a source at GameStop, which indicated that the retailer was preparing to place a new order for the popular Sony console, which has now been confirmed. This will be GameStop's first restock since July 1.
GameStop announced last month that it would offer Pro Reward Card members early access to the restock. Pro members also receive early access to today's PS5 restock. This early access has been offered three times so far and has worked reasonably well.
It is possible that this Pro Member-only restocking will be followed by a general sale where anyone can purchase a PS5. This may not happen, but past drops have sold out during the pro-member early access window. If you can eventually get your hands on a PS5, we recommend paying the $15 annual Pro Membership.
It is also worth noting that every restock of the PS5 at GameStop bundles additional items with the console. If you only want the console by itself, you may want to wait for the Sony Direct restock scheduled for tomorrow (July 16).
In early June, GameStop announced a change in the way it handles restocking of game consoles. Priority will be given to Power Up Rewards Pro members. There will be a free tier, but only Pro members will be the first to get restocks. Membership starts at $14.99 per year and includes a subscription to Game Informer, a $5 monthly rewards coupon ($60 total per year), an additional 10% trade credit for games/accessories, and a $5 welcome certificate. Sign up today and you will have access to restocking.
This may sound obvious, but you must have a GameStop account and be logged into your account when the restock begins. If nothing happens when you click the "Add to Cart" button, try refreshing the page. Or try clearing your browser cookies and opening the page in an incognito web browser. You may be prompted to unscramble the captcha before adding the console to your cart. It is not yet known if this restocking will be open to the public after the early access window.
As with previous GameStop PS5 restocking events, these units will sell out quickly. If you missed out, don't worry. There will be more restocking events in the future. Also, be sure to follow Restock Info for the most up-to-date restocking information. In the meantime, you can check other retailers' pages to see if they have quietly added new inventory.
