Congratulations to the new Emmy nominees! The 2021 Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and the TV Academy was especially generous to streaming services: HBO/HBO Max received 130 nominations, just ahead of Netflix's 129 nominations HBO/HBO Max received 130 nominations, slightly more than Netflix's 129 nominations. Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus both received dozens of nominations.
The Emmy nominations announcement was hosted by Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Blindspotting) In 2020, they made history as the first father-daughter duo to win a performance Emmy in the same year (She won for her short-lived Quibi show #FreeRayshawn).
The 2021 Emmy Awards ceremony is currently scheduled to air on CBS on September 19. Held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and feature a limited live audience of nominees and their guests.
