ESPN Plus prices are rising (again) — here's how to get around this

Sports fans, stop what you may have heard: ESPN Plus is raising its prices starting next month. This will be the second increase in 2021, following an increase in the annual package fee from $49.99 to $59.99 in January of this year.

Effective August 13 (according to Engadget), ESPN Plus fees will be $69.99 per year and $6.99 per month, up from the current $59.99 per year and $5.99 per month. However, no further outlay is required.

If you get the $59.99 annual plan by August 13, you can stave off the price increase for another 12 months. This is a savings of $11.89 compared to the current monthly plan and $10 compared to the upcoming annual plan. This is probably part of ESPN Plus' calculation to get people to sign up for an annual plan now and lock them in for the long term by announcing the price increase a month in advance.

Nevertheless, there is another way to get around the price increase: the price of the Disney Plus bundle, which packages Hulu and ESPN Plus for $13.99/month (now $6/month, discounted $7/month after August 13), will not change.

We could spend some time figuring out how often you use ESPN Plus and recommend that you cancel and re-subscribe based on that, but that may not be an option for you.

ESPN Plus must be annoying to fight fans everywhere, as it is a mandatory subscription for anyone who wants to watch UFC PPVs at home. Not only do they have to spend an additional $5.99 on top of the individual PPV prices, they now have to spend $1 more per month.
