PS2for PS5 will have a "synonymous with PlayStation" experience

Not much is known about Sony's upcoming PSVR 2 device for PS5, but in an investor catch-up document, some interesting comments are made about possible compatible games.

Revealed in the "New Levels of Immersion" section, it talks about Sony's new VR hardware accessory and how it will offer "the unique experience synonymous with PlayStation."

Also discussed.

It also discusses already anticipated features such as a single-cable connection to the PS5 console and a wireless motion controller like the Orb that will feature the same haptic feedback currently offered by Sony's DualSense controller.

Citation.

The mention of "unique" in the quote brings to mind exclusive titles that may be released for the upcoming VR headset. And as "synonymous" experiences, it is possible that Sony has something in the works regarding its flagship franchises like "Horizon Forbidden West" and "The Last of Us."

This strategy is similar to what Sony is currently doing with its next-generation console, the PS5. Since Microsoft has not announced plans for VR support for its latest console, a virtual reality exclusive would certainly score points for Sony when competing with its main rival, the Xbox Series X. An exclusive library would also make the upcoming PSVR 2 stand out in comparison to VR industry leaders like Oculus.

Since Sony officially announced PSVR 2 for PS5, leaks and rumors about the upcoming VR headset have been scattered; PSVR 2 is expected to feature many upgrades, including 4K VR gaming capabilities. At this stage, not much is known about the design, but PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has already revealed some details in an interview with the Washington Post.

"We're going to move to a very simple single-code setup," Ryan said.

This would be a significant improvement over the current PSVR procedure, which requires users to connect wires to three different devices (console, TV, and processing unit).

This was followed by an official blog post from Sony, which revealed more details about the controller. Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of platform planning and management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said, "One of the key innovations we're excited about is the new VR controller, which we believe will be a great addition to the PSVR experience."

However, the PSVR 2 headset is not coming anytime soon, as confirmed by Jim Ryan. 'At some point in the future, VR will be an important part of interactive entertainment.' Will it be this year? No. Will it be next year? No. Will it be next year? We believe so."

So even if you do win the PS5 re-release game and get Sony's next-generation console, it may be quite some time before you can get your hands on the upcoming PSVR 2
