The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a new 2-in-1 laptop that promises to embody the learnings from the company's booming smartphone business into a sleek Windows PC.

Announced today along with the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro, these new notebooks feature 11th generation Intel CPUs and AMOLED screens (a first for Samsung's Windows laptops) and are among the best laptops available for purchase

Samsung appears to be making a bold push to increase its dominance in the Windows laptop market with the launch of these new machines, and we are eager to get some for testing and review to see how they stack up! are. The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is available for pre-order starting at $1,199 for the 13-inch and $1,299 for the 15-inch.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is available for pre-order today (April 28) and will be available on May 14.

Prices start at $1,199 for the 13-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360 and $1,299 for the 15-inch, but could go up several hundred dollars if the laptop is configured with more storage or improved hardware.

Samsung is also offering a future $150 credit to customers who pre-order by May 14 through Amazon, Best Buy, and its own website (or, if purchased through Samsung, a free pair of Galaxy Buds Pro earphones ), the company claims to be offering a deal that can be claimed.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is designed as a thin and light windows laptop, and the screen can be rotated so that it lies flat against the deck, allowing it to function as a tablet.

Unlike its less flexible sibling, the Galaxy Book Pro, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 has a touchscreen and includes Samsung's S Pen. Considering the laptop's built-in support for sharing information and displays among other Windows and Android devices, especially Samsung devices, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 seems well designed for mobile productivity.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is relatively small, weighing 2.3 pounds for the 13-inch and 3 pounds for the 15-inch. Comparing specs, the 13-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360 is slightly heavier than the Galaxy Book Pro and slightly heavier than the Dell XPS 13 and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360's chassis is made entirely of aluminum and comes in two matte color options: mystic navy and mystic bronze.

Both the 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch models of the Galaxy Book Pro 360 feature a Full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080.

The "Super" part is just a marketing term added by Samsung to indicate that it is an AMOLED display with a built-in touchscreen digitizer. However, since AMOLED displays use LEDs rather than LCDs, they are generally beautifully vibrant and have excellent contrast, so the term "super" is hardly necessary.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 is Samsung's first Windows PC with a Super AMOLED display, and we are eager to get one for testing so we can see its performance in action. According to Samsung, the laptop has a built-in Intelligent Color Engine utility that can dynamically change the screen's color space for any task, including gaming, watching movies, and photo editing. However, this is only possible if the application being used is optimized to work with the Engine.

Stylus enthusiasts will appreciate that all Galaxy Book Pro 360 models will ship with the new S Pen stylus. According to Samsung, this is an upgraded version that is 2.5 times thicker than the S Pen for the Galaxy Book Flex, which should make using the stylus more comfortable during long screen writing sessions.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 comes with a number of built-in apps that support the S Pen, including a limited-time free version of Clip Studio Paint.

The keyboard on the new Galaxy Book Pro series notebooks features a scissor mechanism and offers a near-quiet 1mm travel with wide rubber dome keys, according to Samsung.

The touchpad is made slightly larger than those on earlier Galaxy laptops like the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion, but Samsung declined to provide specific dimensions for the Galaxy Book Pro 360's touchpad.

Samsung has not been forthright about the battery life expected from the Galaxy Book Pro 360, saying that owners of Galaxy Book Pro series laptops should expect up to 20 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of standard use stated in the presentation.

The Galaxy Book Pro series covers both the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 sizes, and specific specifications for each laptop in the lineup have not yet been finalized, as the power resources appear to be very different.

As for charging, Samsung claims that the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptop supports a 65W fast charge and is capable of 8 hours of video playback on a 30-minute charge.

Connectivity is a key selling point of these new Galaxy Book Pro laptops, and Samsung claims to have integrated its expertise in smartphone design (especially Galaxy smartphones) into the design of these new machines.

If you already have a Samsung smartphone or tablet, you will find that the Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptop comes with a set of options for connectivity (presumably with any device running Android 7.0+ or later). This allows you to share information, displays, and phones between devices. In addition, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 will ship with Samsung's SmartThings app, which will allow the laptop to interface with SmartThings compatible smart home devices such as lights, appliances, and thermostats.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 also supports Wi-Fi 6 (also compatible with Wi-Fi 6E) and Bluetooth 5.1. Additionally, the 13-inch model can be configured for 5G support, but Samsung is quick to note that the quality of that support is carrier and environment dependent.

While Samsung has earned a reputation for producing excellent smartphones and tablets, its laptops have never made a significant impact on the global market.

However, the company's recent moves suggest that may be about to change. For example, we appreciated the luxury Samsung brought to the Galaxy Chromebook and, more recently, the company's adaptation of its expensive design to more efficient everyday use with the Galaxy Chromebook 2.

This new lineup of Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 and Galaxy Book Pro laptops will continue that trend, as they feature the latest Intel CPUs in slim, attractive machines with AMOLED displays.

Prices are also quite reasonable, suggesting that we may soon have to re-evaluate whether Samsung's latest laptops can push aside the Dell XPS 13 and MacBook Pro 2020 and rank in our best laptops list. That means we are eager to get some in for testing so we can measure how they measure up against the competition.
