Online multiplayer for "Super Mario Party" has been enhanced from the previous 10 mini-games to 70 of the 80 mini-games and the Mario Party and Partner Party game modes.
The multiplayer update is free and will be installed automatically the next time your Nintendo Switch (or Nintendo Switch Lite) is connected to the Internet. To participate in online multiplayer, players must subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, with one-month memberships starting at $3.99 / £3.49 / $5.95 AUD.
Super Mario Party was released for Nintendo Switch in 2018. And while it took some time for the online portion of the game to get up to speed, players will definitely be excited to play the Super Mario Party board game with friends online. This is the first time online play has been made available.
There are some limitations to the multiplayer rollout. Nintendo has provided specific combinations for playing with friends over the Internet: one person per system, two to four players, or up to two people per system, three to four players total.
Nintendo states: "If two players are each playing on their own system, they cannot play with two players using a third system. The patch notes also list 10 mini-games that are not yet playable online, but all 20 characters and maps are available regardless of progress in the game.
The invite a friend feature allows you to play with friends who have the same game. You can also host private games that can be played with anyone using a password.
Super Mario Party update 1.1.0 is available now.
