And the Oscar for Best Picture goes to.... Nomadland!!!Watch Nomadland on Hulu if you want to see Best Actress winner Frances McDormand wow us with what she does best, amazing acting.

"Nomad Land" was the biggest winner of the 2021 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Director for Chloe Chao (the second woman and first woman of color to win).

The film, perfect for its time in both good and bad ways, cast McDormand as Fern, a former substitute teacher who left the town of Empire, Nevada, when the economy collapsed due to mine closures. He now lives in an RV and works seasonal jobs, including at an Amazon fulfillment center during the holiday season.

The film seems to have all the heartbreaking emotion one would expect from McDormand's signature roles, but it is also gorgeous. Director Zhao has made a reputation for showing the stories of people in the toughest parts of the beautiful western states, and this film is a fine continuation of that form.

McDormand's co-stars include actual nomads and the always reliable David Strathern. Click here to watch the trailer for Nomadland.

"Nomadland" will be available on Hulu on February 19, 2021.

Hulu is only available in the United States.

The Washington Post's Anne Hornaday wrote, "McDormand holds up the camera with an utterly charming combination of self-respect and dignity - a few years ago, when she appeared on the film awards circuit with Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the usual vacuous She wrote, "It is the same charismatic naturalism that gave the film an exhilarating distinction from glamour.

Richard Roper of the Chicago Sun-Times described the film as "an instant American masterpiece that feels like something John Steinbeck might have written had he been working in the early 21st century." He also uses the four-star review to remind us that Frances McDormand belongs to the hypothetical "Mount Rushmore of actresses who created many of the most memorable and formidable characters in film history." It also states that "David Strathern deserves the Best Supporting Actor award for his beautifully understated performance."

[20] In Vulture, Allison Wilmore writes that "'Nomadland' is a devastating film about the deliciousness of its distinction and has a great chance of being the feature film of the year, even though the award is for an uncertain 2020." She also praised the director for "proving that Beijing-born Zhao is the best big-screen chronicler of the region as a real place of rugged territory and stunning scenery."

David Sims of The Atlantic named "Nomadland" one of the best films of 2020, noting that it is "anchored by Frances McDormand's dynamic, prickly, and deeply compelling performance in the lead role." Zhao juxtaposes the failed promise of the American Dream with the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery. [23] [24] In Rolling Stone, a review by K. Austin Collins emphasizes that "for all the majesty and naturalistic realism of its imagery, Nomadland is nevertheless full of sublime and eerie detail, which enlivens the ruckus somewhat ... These details are not uplifting or ironic, but rather serve to evoke a striking misfire on the subject, reminding us that life is beautiful, making us feel (or not feel) "better" about Fern's situation.
