Battlefield 6 can kill traditional campaigns — this is a big change

"Battlefield 6" is shaping up to be a very accomplished next-generation shooter, but things are about to get even more interesting with the revelation that players will not be tied to a single alliance. Apparently, a character's nationality has no bearing on which side he or she fights for. They can fight for the US, Russia, or both.

These two countries are the superpowers of this title, which will reportedly be a next-gen exclusive. This means that if you haven't already purchased a PS5 or Xbox Series X, there is a good chance that the PS4 or Xbox One versions will not be released.Responding to a Reddit leak, Twitter tipster Tom Henderson said that "Battlefield 6" players will actually be able to fight whichever they prefer, he said.

In response to the leak that a character's nationality will depend on which major power the player fights for, Henderson immediately denied it. He added:

"You are a group of individuals from a fallen country, and you are free to fight for whichever one you want. So, theoretically, Japanese soldiers could fight for both America and Russia."

Asked if the tweet about choosing sides was referring to a stand-alone campaign, Henderson said, "I was not told there was a campaign. What I originally heard was actually a plot. The plot is that both the U.S. and Russia will hire anyone who will fight for them.

In a blog post last month revealing the game's title and near-future setting, Henderson mentioned the groups to which players will belong. The campaign is described as "revolutionary" compared to past entries in the series.

"The campaign focuses on you and your specialized units, and you can choose which superpowers you want to fight for: ...... not necessarily the 'Axis Powers and their allies.'"

"Both the United States and Russia are the only superpowers in the game and will offer to "recruit" your specialized teams and their skills throughout the campaign. Also, this year's campaign will be a cooperative experience. 15]

Henderson has seen the trailer (or at least parts of it) and seems to have shared some frame sketches, but we have yet to see that trailer. Just this week he announced that the trailer was "probably a week or two away" and that "a teaser should arrive" for it.

Of course, none of this is definitive, as Henderson himself emphasizes. As Henderson himself emphasizes, the nuggets he shares are based on what he has heard so far and may not be 100% accurate.
