Samsung's affordable Galaxy S21 FE is set to launch this year. No official images have been released yet, but these stunning new renderings should keep your eyes busy until the real thing arrives.
Artist 4RMD has once again mocked up a concept video of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G. Like last year's device, this smartphone balances the most desirable features of the flagship S series while cutting other features to achieve an affordable price point. [For example, the Galaxy S20 FE has the Galaxy S20's 120Hz display, a robust camera setup, and a variety of fun colors for younger consumers. This Galaxy S21 FE concept also follows the same Samsung strategy.
Some of the details of the Galaxy S21 FE in the video differ slightly from the leaks and rumors we have heard so far. The display in the renderings is 6.3 inches, which is different from the 6.4-inch screen we are expecting. In any case, it is larger than the Galaxy S21's 6.2-inch panel.
A 120Hz refresh rate is practically guaranteed at this point, as is 5G support. Last year's model also offered an LTE variant, but we need to see if Samsung will offer another version this year for the Galaxy S21 FE.
In terms of processors, the Galaxy S21's SoC Snapdragon 888 is a safe bet for the Galaxy S21 FE. The battery in the mockup is the same size as the previous model and is 4,500 mAh. While this is 500mAh larger than the base model of the Galaxy S20, battery life was shorter than expected in our tests. We expect it to be more durable this year. [Last year's Galaxy S20 FE has an optical sensor instead of the ultrasonic sensor used in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. The latter is much more accurate, and I would love to see this year's FE equipped with it. However, since the goal is to achieve an affordable price point, it would not necessarily be a feature that fans would be eager to see compared to a camera or display.
On the topic of cameras, 4RMD did not mention specs, but this Galaxy S21 FE's triple-lens setup on the back boasts a wide-angle, wide, and telephoto lens; the Galaxy S20 FE has a 12MP lens (f/1.8) + 12MP ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.2) + 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom (digital). It also has the 32MP front-facing camera reportedly found on the Galaxy S21 FE.
Of course, none of these details are definitive, but the rendered images do a decent job of showing what the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE will look like. If Samsung manages to offer premium features while keeping the price down, fans will gladly fork over cash for it.
