Resident Evil 7 Resident Evil Resident Evil 8, or Resident Evil 7 Resident Evil Village, is part of a new trilogy that will begin with Resident Evil 7 Resident Evil. This title will be the second in the trilogy, all of which are expected to feature Ethan Winters as the protagonist.
The news is by no means official, but comes from Ryan, a Twitter leaker who goes by the online handle AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem. Ryan, a game developer and YouTuber, is known for taking the time to provide information that has proven to be true. According to Ryan, Capcom had this new trilogy in the works from the very beginning. He says that elements of "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village," a direct sequel to "Resident Evil 7," will "make more sense" in this new context, even if they have previously left gamers scratching their heads.
The Twitter tipster adds that Resident Evil 7, 8, and 9 have interwoven stories, which is one of the reasons Capcom is looking to discontinue the franchise's numbered titles in the future. The goal is to allow independent, "self-contained stories" to be told, rather than planning a series of connected stories over several games.
This trilogy will fill that gap, providing a unique series of events spanning multiple games and paving the way for more independent stories in the Resident Evil universe in the future.
This is certainly a strong possibility, and is consistent with the naming conventions we have seen recently. For example, "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil" pays homage to the different series names in Japan and the West. In Japan, the Japanese title is "Resident Evil"; the Japanese title for "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil" is "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil."
Since "Resident Evil 8" is already better known than "Resident Evil 7 Resident Evil", it is possible that Capcom is paving the way for a numbered title after "Resident Evil 9". As always, this is only a rumor for now, but given what we know so far about "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village," this seems certain.
