Crysis Remastered, the 2020 upgrade to the 2007 first-person shooter classic, is now available in a new look with a new performance-enhancing patch for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The update, which is now available for both consoles, boosts the graphics-intensive shooter to 60 fps and offers players several different modes, including one that prioritizes performance and another that emphasizes graphical fidelity
Performance mode.
In performance mode, the PS5 and Xbox Series X run at 60 fps at 1080p resolution, while in ray-traced mode the game is slightly less stable at 60 fps at 1440p resolution. On the other hand, the Xbox Series S, with its inferior performance, is fixed at 1080p and 30 fps in this mode.
Unfortunately for gamers using Sony machines, the Xbox Series X has a significant advantage when it comes to quality mode. On the Series X, games run at 2160p and target 60 fps (but cannot consistently achieve it), whereas on the PS5 the resolution is 1800p.
According to Digital Foundry, this poor experience on the PS5 is not due to the power of the console, but to the limitations Sony has imposed on the console's backward compatibility features.
Xbox implements a smart delivery system, which automatically upgrades players to the best version of the game they are playing, but playing non-PS5 games on Sony's console is a bit finer.
This is not the first time a multiplatform game has received a better next-generation upgrade on the Xbox Series X. Jedi Fallen Order received an optimization patch last year that allowed Xbox players to play the game in 4K resolution, while PlayStation gamers had to play it in 1440p.
Ultimately, most players will not notice the difference in resolution, but if you have the option of playing "Crysis Remastered" on the Xbox Series X or PS5, we recommend choosing the former.
This next-gen patch does more than just improve performance; it also adds the infamous Ascension level to the game. This level was cut from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Crysis because it was too taxing on the hardware of those systems; with Crysis Remastered, console players can finally experience the full game Crysis Remastered" finally allows console players to experience the full game.
