I've been watching and enjoying Netflix's "Wednesday," and I've learned a few things about the dance scene that has been getting a lot of attention on social media. In this dance scene, which can be seen in episode 4 of "Wednesday," Ms. Adams is dancing and looking a bit obsessed at the same time.
And this revelation was made by Wednesday's Jenna Ortega herself. The star said (in the video below) that she "choreographed" the routine herself and that 1980s goth inspired her performance. The dance scene can be seen below. If you've already seen the scene, be sure to watch it to see Luis Guzman react to someone who might be flirting with "his" daughter.
BACK: Ortega (open in new tab) writes: "Thanks to Susie Sue, Bob Fosse's Richman's Flag, Lisa Loring, Rene Ravitch, Denise Lavin, and archival footage of Goss dancing in clubs in the 80s. They helped with this work". This is a video edit from TikTok (opens in new tab) and it is exploding.
In the cast reaction video, the actors playing Wednesday's Nevermore Academy friends rave about how much they loved the scene. Ortega admitted that the scene "made me really uneasy" and that he thinks it is "obvious that I am not a dancer or a choreographer." Hopefully, the rave reviews from fellow cast members and online fans will give Ortega a little more confidence in her dancing skills.
"Wednesday," which will likely make Netflix's list of best shows, has been available on Netflix since last Wednesday (November 23).
The Monster Movie Fan account @UniHorror_ (opens in new tab) said, "Holy crap! This #wednesday #wednesdaynetflix Rat @jennaortega this dance out of 10?" he tweeted.
User @JSJdarling (opens in new tab) tweeted, "Wednesday's little dance is the best part of this series, might be one of my favorite in 2022."
And naturally, TikTok users are turning the dance into a challenge:
It's great that Ortega was given the freedom to come up with her own dance number, inspired by the connection she feels with the character Perhaps it's because, in an interview with Wired (opens in new tab), she talked about how much she loves to dance, but also about her own odd traits.
In that interview, she talked about her friendship with Maddie Ziegler ("Dance Moms"), saying, "She's very weird, and I'm weird. We found a little lizard dead in our backyard."
So, if you happened to be lucky enough to find the perfect actor for an iconic character like Wednesday Adams, what if you actually found an actor whose real-life behavior was similar to that character? This dance scene proves that you always need to let people improvise.
Next Night at the Museum Kahmunrah Rises Again is the next revival of the popular series Spotify Wrapped 2022 has just been released. The trailer for Cocaine Bear is a must-see. I also watched Netflix's "Wednesday" and didn't know I needed a Harry Potter replacement.
