Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is less than a week away, and it looks like we'll get a good look at the Galaxy S23 and perhaps some new Galaxy Book 3 laptops.

However, Samsung is unlikely to stop announcing products after Unpacked is over on February 1. Leaker Evan Blass tweeted that Samsung is planning a second Unpacked event on Thursday, March 30 (opens in new tab).

The original tweet was deleted, but Blass later tweeted about the event again (opens in new tab) and confirmed in a DM to Tom's Guide that March 30 is the date of this second Unpacked. The event will reportedly focus on the new entry in Samsung's Galaxy A series (now highlighted by the Samsung Galaxy A53).

If, as Blass claims, the focus of this event is the Galaxy A series, we have a good idea of what phones should make an appearance.

First, the star of the show should be the new Samsung Galaxy A54, which will replace the Galaxy A53; the A54 is suggested to get some upgrades over its predecessor, including a wider screen and larger battery. However, the main rear camera could be downgraded in terms of megapixels; the A54 could feature a 50MP sensor instead of the 64MP main sensor on the Galaxy A53. However, megapixels are not everything, and we would be surprised if Samsung actually downgrades the camera quality.

Then there is the Samsung Galaxy A34, which is expected to replace the Galaxy A33 that was released only in Europe last year; the A34 is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch display featuring a 90Hz refresh rate. Otherwise, the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A54 are relatively similar, with the former expected to have a slightly downgraded chipset and camera setup.

We have already seen the Galaxy A14 unveiled by Samsung at CES 2023; the A14 is priced at only $199, but it has great features like a 90Hz display and a micro SD card slot; the A14 is already available for purchase; the Galaxy A54 is expected to be available for $399, and the Galaxy A34 is expected to be available for $399. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that Samsung plans to discontinue the Galaxy A74 and there will be no successor to last year's Galaxy A73.

Aside from the phones themselves, what we are interested in is what chipsets will be in the A54 and A34 phones. The previous models were powered by Samsung's Exynos chipset, and the currently rumored specs suggest that these new phones will follow suit. By contrast, the Galaxy S23 series will likely use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

If you don't want to wait for March to get a great cheap Samsung phone, there is good news. Usually, retailers mark down older versions of upcoming phones, and it looks like the Samsung Galaxy A53 is no exception.
