Samsung Galaxy S23Ultra Blows off Pixel7Pro with New Photo Samples

Samsung Galaxy S23Ultra Blows off Pixel7Pro with New Photo Samples

The latest Samsung Galaxy S23 leaks show off more of the Galaxy S23 Ultra's camera capabilities and tease the future of the phone's chipset.

We'll start with a fresh camera sample of the Ultra, again published by Twitter user Edwards Urbina (opens in new tab), who previously posted an image sample of the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The first two 30x zoom photos compare the Galaxy S23 Ultra to the Google Pixel 7 Pro. The Galaxy's images are certainly brighter and even a bit sharper when viewed on the larger display. With a rumored 200MP main camera, it's not surprising to see more detail from the Galaxy S23 Ultra shot compared to the Pixel 7 Pro, which is cropped from a 50MP main image at this magnification.

Next are examples of 12MP and 50MP images taken in RAW format.

The 50MP image has better cloud detail, especially on the left side, which is burnt white in the 12MP image; while it is nice to be able to shoot RAW at 12MP, photo enthusiasts would be better off using their phones' high-resolution mode.

We also got a sample of the front-facing selfie camera compared to the Pixel 7 Pro; Urbina's face looks much flatter in the brighter Pixel image, plus its colors are generally cooler.

In addition to the main camera, the Galaxy S23 Ultra's selfie camera is also worth noting; some rumors say it will retain the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 40MP sensor and move to a 12MP sensor like the other Galaxy S23 models.

Finally, one more low-light mode image of some figures. It's impressive that the Galaxy S23 Ultra brings out attractive colors and almost noiseless detail; it's a shame Urbina didn't compare the Galaxy S23 Ultra to his Pixel 7 Pro; Google's night mode shots are among the best in the business!

We are of course very impressed with the Pixel 7 Pro.

We will, of course, run our own in-depth camera tests once we get our hands on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is not too far off in the future, as Samsung has strongly hinted that the new model will appear at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 1 It should.

Besides the camera performance, rumors of the Galaxy S23 series also state that it will feature a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, named Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. This would be a change from Samsung's usual two-chip approach to Galaxy S phones and could stick.

Leaker Yogesh Brar (open in new tab) claims to have heard that Samsung's special partnership with Qualcomm, chipmaker of the Snapdragon line, will continue into the future while Samsung prepares a new generation of Exynos chips The company claims to have heard that the partnership will continue for the foreseeable future. This will take at least two years, Brar said in a reply to a comment (opens in new tab).

Buyers of Galaxy S phones outside the US have historically only had the Exynos version of the phone to choose from, which was usually inferior to the Snapdragon-powered version sold in the US. Having Snapdragon chips in all Galaxy S23 handsets would help unify the user experience worldwide, rather than selling "good" and "bad" versions of the phone in separate markets. But if this is only a temporary arrangement, let's hope that the next generation of Exinos chips will not once again lag behind Snapdragon's rivals in performance. [This rumor is not a rumor, and until Samsung denies the Galaxy S23 series rumors, we will continue to bring you updates on these phones, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
