Adam Sandler's partnership with Netflix has been one of the most successful in terms of viewership. His films have consistently performed well on the streaming service, and his latest film, "Murder Mystery 2," is no exception.

Less than a day after its release, "Murder Mystery 2" has already soared to #2 on Netflix's top 10 movies list. Tomorrow, it will reign supreme over the 2019 Helen Hunt thriller I See You.

The popularity of Murder Mystery 2 is not surprising given that it is a sequel to Sandler's re-teaming with Jennifer Aniston. And its popularity is growing, despite the fact that it was heavily criticized by critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes (open in new tab). Sandler's films have proven resistant to criticism before, with The Ridiculous 6 recording zero (0) ratings (open in new tab), but still setting a Netflix streaming record at the time. So is "Murder Mystery 2" worth watching or not? Let's consider that.

"Murder Mystery 2" is a direct sequel to 2019's "Murder Mystery," starring Sandler and Aniston as married couple Nick and Audrey Spitz. In the original, Nick is an NYPD officer and Audrey is a hairdresser. While traveling in Europe for their wedding anniversary, the two become embroiled in a murder on a billionaire's yacht.

In Murder Mystery 2, Nick and Audrey have become full-time sleuths struggling to get their private detective agency off the ground. When their friend the Maharaja is kidnapped at a lavish wedding, they find themselves in the middle of an international kidnapping case.

As the title suggests, there must be a murder involved.

"Murder Mystery 2" outperformed its predecessor, at least in the critical category. The original had a dismal 44% on both the critics' Tomatometer and the audience score.

The sequel fared slightly better, with 52% among critics and 66% among audiences.

Audience reviews range from one to five (really!) stars. They range from one to five stars (really!). Christopher H. said, "I can't believe I watched it all the way through. Willis34, however, declares it "an absolute masterpiece of comedic detective work featuring the iconic duo."

If you've read this far into the article, I think I can say that you should stream "Murder Mystery 2". Why wouldn't you? Your expectations cannot be lower. You know exactly what you're going to get. Sandler is Sandler. Sometimes he gets to do things differently, as in "Uncut Gems" and the last Netflix movie "Hustle," but he does it with broad, goofy, poor humor.

Besides, the film is a quick 90 minutes, so there's no time to waste. You'll probably chuckle even while folding laundry.
