The new look and colors of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 seem to have all been unveiled in official-looking renderings of both models released by the leak source SnoopyTech.
From these images, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is quite different from the Galaxy Z Flip 4, with a larger outer display, although the interior looks the same. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but has a slightly new triple rear camera block design.
SnoopyTech also provides some specs for both models. This list is not comprehensive, but other than the Z Flip 5's enlarged cover screen, the addition of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and new USB-C and Wi-Fi standards, the specs seem very similar to last year's models
Unfortunately, this means that both models are IPX8 waterproof, not the combined waterproof/dustproof standard that we had heard could be included in Samsung's 2023 foldable phone.
Both models will also have new color options, which are also named in the leaked specs: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be available in Lavender, Mint, Cream, and Graphite Available in Lavender, Mint, Cream, and Graphite.
Manufacturers often disguise unreleased phones in this way in order to give in-house testers a chance to experience the actual device before it is released. However, the folder-shaped cover display and dual cameras, even when camouflaged, are clearly identifiable features of the Z Flip 5.
The new 3.4-inch cover screen is much larger than the current 1.9-inch cover screen, with notifications, music, camera It appears to be a very significant upgrade that will allow for more control. Given that we've just seen the Motorola Razr+ arrive with a similarly expansive secondary display, it's a timely upgrade.
Samsung has announced that it will hold a Samsung Galaxy Unpacked product event in late July focused on folding, so it's logical timing for this new Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable to arrive. The Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and new Galaxy Buds could also be introduced at the same event.
