If you're looking for one last gift for the holiday season, the Apple Store is the place to go. No, we're not talking about fighting the crowds at the nearest shopping mall or picking up a gift card or Apple TV Plus subscription. Apple is offering free delivery within two hours if you order by noon on December 24.
Apple is emailing customers about this promotion. Normally there is a $9 surcharge, which is not an unreasonable price for such a speedy delivery. However, nothing is ever free. The only catch is that you have to live in the relevant metropolitan area.
Since this courier service relies on companies like Uber and Postmates, you need to live in the appropriate pickup and delivery area. Both for the courier and for the nearest Apple Store. If it takes three hours to get to the nearest Apple Store, a two-hour delivery is impossible.
It is also worth knowing that some products are not eligible for this offer. Third-party products sold in the Apple Store are not eligible, nor are the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9. However, this is not because Apple is being clumsy, but rather because of the new sales ban. Engraved products and custom Macs are also not covered.
The promotion does apply to iPhone, AirPods, iPad, iMac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch SE. Exact availability depends on the availability at your local Apple Store. The good news is that the various eligible and ineligible products can be ordered in the same order. Unfortunately, the new USB-C charging case for the AirPods Pro 2 is not eligible for this deal.
From the looks of it, the pickup option is available on a much wider range of products. However, this requires actually going to the Apple Store to pick it up. Free home delivery is much more convenient, especially if it only takes two hours to arrive.
Just be sure to get your order in by 12 p.m. on Christmas Eve or you will look disappointed on Christmas Day.
