Since 2011, the Champions Classic has been an annual event that pits four of the nation's best college basketball teams against each other to see who will ultimately win the crown. Tonight's action kicks off with a doubleheader featuring Duke vs. Michigan State at 7 p.m. ET and Kansas vs. Kentucky at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Both games will generate a lot of interest, but all eyes will be on the second game to see how No. 17 ranked Kentucky fares against the nation's top-ranked Kansas. It will be no mean feat for Kentucky to go on and win this one. In their first two games of the season, the undefeated Jayhawks have scored 99 points in both. And with the fast-moving play that their starting five seems to favor, the Wildcats will need to be on their toes to keep pace.
But that doesn't mean Kentucky will get hammered Tuesday night. Kansas is arguably one of the most athletic teams in the country, but so is Kentucky. If Kentucky can stop Kansas' transition and slow the game down, there is a good chance that an obviously young Kentucky team could turn it around.
It is also worth noting that sports experts are not convinced that Kansas will have the Wildcats' way so easily. As of this writing, DraftKings sportsbooks have Kentucky as a 4.5-point underdog. Oddsmakers believe Kentucky can keep up with Kansas' high-powered offense.
Needless to say, Tuesday night is going to be fun. After the high-profile Duke-Michigan State game, a competitive matchup between Kansas and Kentucky awaits.
