The Apple Watch 7 needs to blow us away to make us forget this gorgeous rendering of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. A group of concept artists have completely redesigned one of the best smartwatches with a curved display and removable watch face.
Yanko Design (via T3) has released a series of renderings of the Samsung Galaxy Watch, which looks nothing like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 released last year. Instead, this hypothetical evolution features a rectangular arched screen optimized for both user immersion and the numerous straps the designers came up with.
Seriously, I don't care about curved screens (the Nubia Watch has already proven that it can be done with wearables).
According to Yanko Design, the part "locks onto various watch bands by sliding into laser-cut metal cutouts or into slots in adhesive silicone. Some of the straps imagined are classic and sporty, with silicone finishes and simple clasps.
Other strap designs lean toward high fashion. We are particularly drawn to those that look like bangle bracelets but attach to either side of the watch housing with magnets. The design allows the watch to be worn on an inconspicuous part of the inside of the wrist.
For those who like to change their smartwatch straps to match their settings and activities, this version of the Galaxy Watch will make you drool. Of course, it's only concept art, but hopefully Samsung is taking notes.
In fact, the upcoming Galaxy Watch, which is expected to offer blood sugar monitoring and other upgrades to challenge the Apple Watch 7, will still feature a circular display. If the Galaxy Watch ditches the rotating bezel, we would be shocked. But in a few years, something like Yanko Designs' wearable could become popular.
Besides, it's not much different from the best fitness trackers that brands like Fitbit are putting out now.
