U.S.-based IPVanish is widely regarded as one of the best VPN services on the market, and its reputation has been further enhanced by the recent upgrade of many of its key servers from 10 Gbps to 25 Gbps.

Upgraded locations include many US cities, the UK, Germany, France, Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Australia, Poland, and Japan, and users in these regions, and others using these servers, should be able to take advantage of faster, more reliable connections.

In February 2020, IPVanish began rolling out these changes in a single U.S. location, but we are pleased to report that the scope has been significantly expanded to benefit users worldwide.

As evidenced by NordVPN's deployment of 10Gbps servers last month, keeping up with evolving technology is becoming more and more It has become essential to keep up with evolving technology.

Simply put, a server with a 25 Gbps network card (in IPVanish's case, the Intel XXV710) can transmit 2.5 times more data than a server with a 10 Gbps card. This is not a bad thing, however, and certainly worth the upgrade, but it does not necessarily double the connection speed. [Essentially, allowing more throughput with a more powerful network card is like building a wider road.

Nevertheless, the upgrade will make IPVanish's servers less likely to be overloaded, and each server will always be able to provide peak speeds no matter how congested the "road" is.

IPVanish is not the first company to announce a server upgrade, but it certainly boasts the most impressive numbers.

As noted above, NordVPN recently upgraded from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps servers, and Private Internet Access is also running 10 Gbps servers in all "NextGen" locations.

So while no provider can yet match IPVanish's massive 25Gbps throughput, NordVPN is one of the fastest VPN services on the market, and the scorching speeds we saw in our tests were not only possible with the upgraded servers fully provided even before the rollout is noteworthy.

IPVanish is not resting on its laurels, and the provider is looking to roll out the new WireGuard protocol across its network early this year. Frankly, the impact on connection speeds is expected to be more significant than the server upgrade.

One thing is certain, however: with its server's 25 Gbps capabilities, IPVanish is thoroughly future-proofing its network for at least the next few years.
