Boba Fett's release date book, cast, trailer and everything else we know

And now we know that "The Book of Boba Fett" is the next chapter in Disney Plus' "Star Wars" programming. This is one of the biggest surprises of the "Mandalorian" Season 2 finale, which had stiff competition thanks to the return of Luke Skywalker.

And yes, this is just one of many upcoming Disney Plus Star Wars shows. Star Wars: Ahsoka is at the top of our wish list, along with Season 3 of The Mandalorian.

We plan to open the first chapter of The Book of Boba Fett in December 2021. We learned a lot about what's to come in a recent Good Morning America interview with Jon Favreau, the showrunner of The Mandalorian.

In the interview, Favreau either spoiled the exact date or corrected it to "December 2021" after saying "Christmas." He also revealed the show's new logo (shown below) and that "The Mandalorian" Season 3 will go into production "pretty soon" following "The Book of Boba Fett".

It will come as no shock to anyone that Temuera Morrison (who plays Boba Fett) will appear in the series. Morrison made her Star Wars debut in 2002's "Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones" as Jango Fett, Boba's dearly departed father. Jango was the template for the clone trooper, so no one would bat an eye at his son being such a clone (then again, few would have seen both of their true faces).

Ming-Na Wen also returns as Fennec Shand, Fett's right-hand man. The actress is no stranger to the world of geeky TV productions, having recently played Agent May in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

These are the casting details, but we also know that the crack team of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni of The Mandalorian will return as executive producers along with Robert Rodriguez. The "Grindhouse" director joined "Star Wars" as the director of "The Mandalorian" episode 14.

Details are still very early in the season. However, Small Screen claims that someone told them that "The Book Of Boba Fett" will only be four episodes. However, the site has no track record, so we are not betting on that claim.

It is likely that there will be an eight-episode order, as there was for the Mando season.

It would be dishonest to claim that the following video, which claims to be a teaser trailer, is actually a teaser trailer. In fact, this is what we saw at the end of Season 2 of The Mandalorian. It is the big reveal of Boba Fett and Fenech Shand returning to Jabba's old shack.

The setup for The Book of Boba Fett is simple. Fett and Shand have now taken over the seedy criminal world of Tatooine. One would expect them to learn that offering a bounty is not as easy as claiming it.

Viv Fortuna's absence erases one of more than 100 names that could easily cameo in the new series. And as the Mando S2 finale showed, Disney Plus Star Wars series love getting such opportunities.
